Validations

Rails Models provide extensive facilities for validating data before writing to the database. Standard validation routines, such as "validates presence of," require minimal coding. Custom validations can be written to do arbitrary sorts of testing. Validations can be run on every save, or only on create, or at other times. If any validation fails, the database is not modified and an array of error messages is returned.
